First, let me say that MP Grimlock is an excellent mold. I’ll get into the detail later, but my biggest beef is the scale compaired with the original MPs, Optimus and Megatron. He should be at least the same size (if bigger) as MP Optimus. Oh well, they started getting smaller with MP Starscream. That and I at least scale wise he fits in well with the Classics setup I’ve got (better the Classics Grimlock, that’s for sure).

In Dino-mode there’s a lot of nice details. My personal favourite is that you can switch the eyes between the toy accurate red and show accurate blue just be lifting the lid on the head and turning the pieces the right way. He’s got a flamethrower in his mouth, many of the sticker details are nice paint apps or transparent plastic pieces now, and his arms have a great range of motion and…fingers . That’s right, another toy to add to TMF Day. You’re welcome Alun.

The transformation is definitely smoother and the least complicated when compaired with the other MPs. It’s actually very G1, the biggest change being in the legs which I find does well to hide the tail in robot mode.

The robot-mode is definitely the best Grimlock we’ve seen, ever. Good articulation (sadly no middle finger in this mode), a great head sculpt and the accessories you’d expect: a sword, blaster and crown. I still think the crown looks a little goofy so it spends most of it’s time on MP Starscream (since I don’t have that corination set). The gimic in robot-mode is the right arm lights up with the push of a button through the weapon you have equiped.

The only issue I had with mine (not sure about others) is that the hand with the light built into it was very stuck inside and I actually had to take the leg apart to get at it. Now it’s fine, but still a bit of an annoyance for a new toy.
