The Consumerist – Part 4

In case you hadn't noticed, I'm of two minds on the subject. On the one hand, the level to which businesses attempt to capitalize on this season with their obnoxious advertising and attempts to manipulate everything in your field of vision to make you buy more shit is more than a little nauseating. On the other hand... I LIKE stuff. I like stuff lots. I have lots of stuff, and want more stuff to go with that stuff. On the other other hand, you shouldn't let all of the stuff detract from spending time with family and friends. If you're like me, this is the only time of year you get to spend quality time, or any time at all, with certain folks. On the other3 hand, we've been rocking a hefty global recession these past few years... and according to my admittedly limited knowledge of the economy, the increased spending that occurs for Christmas is an important factor in recovery. Ultimately, I guess I just don't see why Christmas can't be all of these things. As was true with so many things once upon a time, the Simpsons said it best. Said Lisa to Gary Coleman, "Let's just agree that the commercialization of Christmas is, at best, a mixed blessing." Hear, hear. In other news... as of the posting of this comic, twxxd is officially THREE YEARS OLD. Time sure does fly. It's been a great year for twxxd, and, assuming the world doesn't end today, we've got big plans for next year. We've never been more jazzed about our content... the comics, the podcast, the "other" projects you folks don't even KNOW about... stay tuned, ya'll. Because we're going to rock this bitch. I hope you all have a fantastic holiday season, and a kickin' new year. See you on the other side. ~C Be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, eh ;) Share/Bookmark

  1. It all depends. If you are getting stuff just for the sake of having stuff, then yes it’s all about wasteful thrift. But if the stuff you are getting/giving is something you plan to use or at least enjoy thoroughly, then yeah… a little corruption isn’t all bad.

    1. I like stuff…but I like stuff that I’ll use/appreciate. I agree, what’s the point otherwise?

  2. I’m going to consumer the HELL out of this Christmas.

    1. Hear, hear 😀

  3. Because we’re shelling out 7k to fix a plumbing problem, we’re doing a “home made” xmas this year!

Happy third birthday, twxxd!… look forward to seeing what the new year brings!

    1. Oh boy! Yeah, that makes sense. The gift of continued plumbing is something everyone will like!

Thanks, Jerry! Here’s to 3 more years.

  4. Everything gets commercialized eventually.TM

May your holidays be bright, Brandon and Colin! Congrats on your three golden years, the best is yet to come!

    1. Agreed. And it doesn’t all have to be bad.

To you as well, Mark! Thanks 😀

  5. Hahaha… Collin. Can you please do a comic mixing the old graphic style with the new one?

    1. Lol, how old are we talking here? Are we talking first comics to latest comics? Or somewhere in between?
