Maybe I should limit it...just a little bit.
And so it's true. MF office really is over for me at 50.
MF office started off as an exercise while C and I were getting the original twxxd ready. I made myself work in a very specific rule set to help develop skills and discipline myself. Here's my original list of rules for MF office:
- clean tag (PG)
- 3 Panels
- Black and White
- simple characters/style
- minimal time to create
- no video games
As you've noticed, I've broken more than a few of these rules before. The things is, as I broke more of them I started to realize that the rules didn't mean to me what they once did. It is important to have structure in your comic, but this structure just wasn't working for me anymore. To be honest, it was stressing me out. Last week's strip is a good example of a comic I couldn't do with the MF office character style. I had to break that rule for it to work for me.
Colour was another thing. I've often referred to MF office as the black and white sheep of twxxd. Since we switched to colour last year, it's become a big part of what twxxd is. B&W doesn't have a place in the brand now, as far as I'm concerned. If I was ever to do a black and white strip again, it would be on its own site, and it would be when I've got extra time on my hands because I'm hopefully making a living at this. I really hope to do that some day.
Thank you all for following and enjoying MF office for the past 2 years. I hope I'm not disappointing you by moving on from it, but I really do feel it's the right decision. I'm still going to have a weekly strip I'm going to put out there for the masses, it just won't have a name (for now). That, as well as a lot of other big and exciting things are coming for twxxd. I'm really looking forward to it, and I hope you are too.

Congrats on your 50th. Who doesn’t enjoy slicing people in half. And in color! 🙂
boliver
If you’re gonna slice up Nazis, do it with a rainbow.

Congrats on your 50th, Brandon! Eye-popping stuff, and now in glorious color! Can’t wait to see what you guys have coming up for us!
boliver
Thanks very much, Mark!
Bearman
Move on. I didn’t like that stuff anyway. hahahahah Totally kidding. I am sure whatever you come up with next will be great. Looking forward to it.
boliver
Yeah, I know, that black and white stuff was so pretentious :p
Thanks, Bearman.

Can’t wait to see what you got coming down the pipe!
boliver
Wangs…lots and lots of wangs.

Bravo on 50, your imagination looks familiar, fun place.
boliver
I’m glad I’m not the only one that dreams like this!

Where are the dildos and three boobied alien sex slaves?
boliver
My imagination is divided into parts…I just decided on the SFW version ;). Another time we’ll go to “that place”.

It’s a tough decision to make about ending a comic. It sounds like it’s coming from a place of growth, and it’ll be cool to see what comes along next!
boliver
Too true. Thanks, Jerry.

It’s all a part of growth as a writer and artist. I think your next venture is gonna be even more fun and exciting for you. 🙂
boliver
Exactly. I’m really looking at this as an evolution.
Mike
That bottom pannel is awesome. Is that what your dreams are like? It’s like what mine are like except I’m not in the woods and crying.
boliver
Thanks 🙂
That is what many of my dreams are like, yes. And in a lot of cases I have the giant sword…or guns…and maybe they’re zombies or ninjas or the mob or something.
Then there’s also “that place” that Andrei and I where discussing earlier 😉

I’m with you. Rules suck. You should be free to create whatever you want. I had said “Only 3 panels for life!” when we started, but it is killing my creative spirit lately.
boliver
I feel like, if I didn’t have those rules at first, it would have been chaos. They were like training wheels. But eventually you may get to the point where those rules don’t make sense anymore and it’s time to end them, particularly if they feel like dead weight.

Happy 50th! Going the colour route, eh? Cool! Looking forward to the wacky goodness coming our way!
boliver
That’s the plan. No more black and white (at least on this site). Thanks!
James
I’m assuming that there will be more full frontal nudity.
boliver
Indeed. Look forward to that next week 😉
Chris K
That looked like a fun last panel to draw.
boliver
I had a blast drawing that panel. I really did let my imagination run wild.
Tyler
I wish I could poo laser rainbows and fly… That guy looks so happy!
boliver
Indeed he is! The Portmanteau Fly is a happy little fellow I hope to use more in the future.

Unfiltered certainly brings death & destruction. Cool…
boliver
This may or may not be a reflection on me as a person :S
CousinJen
If this is unfiltered where are the boobs?
boliver
There are many different parts of my imagination. I’ll get to that part soon enough 😉
